VISION STATEMENT

Our vision is that all youth in the Diocese of Khahlamba should know God’s love in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in us.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Diocese of Ukhahlamba is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to a broken world through building a diocese which is spiritually empowered for evangelism.

1. Reaching out into the communities it serves and beyond to bring the love of God in word and deed.
2. Administratively strong and committed to leadership development
3. Working respectfully with people of other denominations and faiths

MEMBERSHIP

1. Membership shall be open to all young bona fide regular, confirmed members of the church in the diocese between the ages of 16-35 years, only people of this age may be inducted and stand for elections at any level.
2. The adult youth leaders and the youth executives of all parochial units of the diocese.
3. The Diocesan youth Chaplain/s
4. The Bishop shall be ex-officio member.

SUBSCRIPTION

An amount of R200.00 is payable, R50 to the parish, R50 the Archdeaconry/Region (South/North) and R100 to the Diocese. It is renewed annually

NAME

The name of the organization shall be “The Diocesan Youth Guild of the Diocese of Khahlamba”(herein after called “the DYG”)

COLOURS

The colours of the uniform of DYG shall be as follows

• Females-navy skirt, navy berets, White (Student Prince) shirt, DYG pin, navy tie with logo, and navy blazer
• Males- grey trousers, DYG pin, navy tie, long sleeve white (Student Prince) shirt and navy blazer.

Historically background of DYG

DYG (Diocesan Youth Guild)Is an Organization of Young people from the Age of sixteen (16)years and above. It is a guild that was formed while we were still in the Diocese of Grahmstown. 

It was initiated by brothers and sisters that are now Clergy, MU, BMMG etc, the late Revd M.Madywabe was one of the  pioneers of this union (may his soul rest in peace).

Then at a later stage multiplication was done and we were divided into two. We then became the Diocese of Khahlamba. Despite this,we continue our union,even though was not easy due to lack of extensive knowledge to build the Guild, however we continue    through ups and downs with the hope that God will show us  the way in building the guild.

The purpose of building this guild was to raise the young people (youth) in the church and to shelter them under the powerful hand,knowing that we nurturing tomorrow’s leaders so that God’s Church will never lack.

We advocate for Love,Care,Respect and we have bible study as well as prayers and preaching the word of God.

We believe that ,”All things are permissible, but NoT all things are beneficial “.

The Guild has a constitution that guides the members, it also has a committee which ensures that the guild thrives. It maintains relationships with other organization of our diocese as well as with our sister dioceses. We also have relationships with other churches beside Anglicans.

The Guild remains Strong,even though the numbers are fluctuating over times.but the mission  continues.We also desire that Young people should join the Guild,and leave behind destructive things that are far from God’s Grace. The Guild stands firm and continues…we say “Until here,God has been with us”.
